INTRODUCTION
International Maritime Management programme will help you to develop your industry awareness, focusing on management practices, day-to-day operations and the international markets that drive this exciting industry.
The course combines traditional content with focused elements unique to the world of shipping and maritime business. Throughout your studies, you’ll develop a greater understanding of the diverse and multi-faceted maritime industry, along with the complex interactions that occur on a global level between the numerous organisations, such as shipping companies, port authorities, businesses and governments.
You’ll learn the key management-related areas such as human resource management, data analysis and finance and business risk, building upon your existing knowledge. These core management modules are combined with specialist maritime studies including international maritime law, maritime operations and transport and economics of international trade and shipping.
You’ll also enhance your research and analytical skills on a specialist research unit. The unit prepares students for a major research project, where you’ll carry out original research into a specific area of the maritime industry.
The course is designed to help you develop a wide range of employability skills, and you’ll be encouraged to participate in extra curricula activities such as attending the Schools research seminars series, open lectures and visits to industry-related sites.
