OBJECTIVES

  • • Apply and gain an in-depth knowledge on monitoring and controlling chemical daily consumption
  • • Discuss production, drilling and completion chemicals and identify the functions of drilling and completion fluids
  • • Carryout field mud checks, review daily report forms and apply laboratory mixing and evaluation methods
  • • Explain product specifications and standards, solids control and contaminants and the importance of rheology
  • • Identify suspension, hole cleaning, hydraulics and the importance of filtration
  • • Recognize filter cake quality, water based mud systems and the types of chemicals used in mud systems, their chemistry and effect
  • • Discuss organic based mud systems and the advantages and disadvantages versus water based fluids
  • • Identify oil and synthetic organic based fluids and the types of chemicals used in organic drilling fluids, their chemistry and effect
  • • Determine drill-in and completion fluids, aims, designs, beneficial aspects and completion brines
  • • Discuss environmental aspects of drilling/completion chemicals and implement testing criteria and validity
  • • Monitor and control daily consumption of chemicals in a professional manner
  • • Discuss standards, rules and legislation
