INTRODUCTION

The discipline of occupational health is concerned with the two-wayrelationship between work environment and health. Occupational

health is a part of the health science curriculum.

The philosophy aims to promote and maintain the highest knowledge of physical, mental and social well-being of workers in all occupations:to prevent departures from health caused by their working conditions;the protection of workers in their employment from risk resulting from factors adverse to health; the placing and maintenance of the workersin an occupational environment adapted to his physiological and psychological make-up.

This teaching material is prepared based on curriculum of occupational health and safety. There are five chapters in the lecture note, each of which has questions and exercises at the end.

Therefore, the material is designed to provide a clear and concise account of the principles and practices of occupational health safety

and hygiene.
