INTRODUCTION

The supervisory role is focused on managing tasks that other people carry out. The supervisor therefore has to be able to plan, set priorities and organise themselves and others to achieve the organisation objectives efficiently and effectively. When entering a supervisory position, people need time to reflect on this new role and its corresponding responsibilities and the opportunity to develop the competence and confidence to use the new skills necessary to be successful.
