INTRODUCTION

The course outlines the general technology of turbo compressors operation and maintenance. It covers how these machines work on process, mechanical aspects, wear, lubrication and troubleshooting by vibration analysis and other techniques. The course provides participants with the basic knowledge for inspecting pumps and compressors and making fault detections and diagnoses. Maximum efficiency, reliability, and longevity of turbo compressors, and bearings are of great concern to many industries. These objectives can only be achieved by understanding the characteristics, selection criteria, theory of operation, sealing arrangements, common problems, repair techniques, as well as their preventive and predictive maintenance. It covers how compressor and its turbo expander operate and provide the guidelines and rules that must be followed for their successful application. Their condition monitoring of the operation parameters helps maintenance issues to avoid overhauls and problems, which will be discussed in detail.
